Deforestation and climate change threaten Ghana’s future. Through the Green Heart Initiative, GRACE plants trees, restores forests, and educates communities on sustainable practices. Together, we can combat climate change and rebuild ecosystems.
Deforestation, urbanization, and waste mismanagement pose significant threats to Ghana’s environment. Climate change exacerbates these challenges, leading to erratic rainfall patterns, declining agricultural productivity, and increased flooding risks.
Why is it crucial to address?
Ghana loses about 2% of its forest cover annually, making it one of the highest deforestation rates in Africa.
Approximately 1.1 million tonnes of plastic waste are generated yearly, with only 5% properly recycled.
Rising temperatures and erratic rainfall have reduced crop yields by 10% since 2018.

What GRACE is calling for?
Reforestation Projects:
o Organize community tree-planting campaigns targeting deforested areas.
o Establish nurseries to supply seedlings for reforestation.
Plastic Waste Management:
o Set up recycling centers and promote biodegradable packaging.
o Collaborate with local governments on waste collection and disposal.
Climate-Smart Agriculture:
o Train farmers in sustainable farming methods to adapt to changing climatic conditions.
o Promote drought-resistant crop varieties.
