"Building Resilient Foundations for Safer Communities"
At GRACE, we believe that safe and reliable infrastructure is the backbone of development. Through this initiative, we aim to enhance road safety infrastructure, repair and maintain existing roads, and build sustainable amenities to improve access to healthcare, education, and commerce. Every road built or improved ensures safer travel, fosters economic growth, and enhances community resilience.
Ghana’s infrastructure deficit hinders economic growth and the well-being of its population. Poor road networks, inadequate public transportation, limited access to water and sanitation facilities, and inefficient energy systems remain critical challenges. Road safety infrastructure is particularly inadequate, contributing to high rates of road traffic accidents and fatalities.
Why it is Important to Address the issue
Ghana loses an estimated $160 million annually (1.6% of GDP) due to poor road conditions and vehicle-related delays.

In 2023 alone, 2,373 people died in road traffic accidents, with poor road infrastructure cited as a key contributor.
Only 21% of Ghanaians have access to improved sanitation, contributing to frequent outbreaks of waterborne diseases like cholera.
Around 30% of rural areas lack access to clean drinking water, which disproportionately affects women and children who bear the burden of water collection.
Despite progress, 15% of Ghanaians remain without electricity, limiting opportunities for education, health, and economic activities in off-grid areas.

What is GRACE going to do?
Road Safety and Maintenance Programs
Establish road safety features, including traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, and reflective road markers.
Partner with local governments for regular road maintenance in high-risk areas.
Water and Sanitation Infrastructure
Build community water systems and public toilets in rural areas to improve hygiene.
Provide technical training to ensure the sustainable management of these facilities.
Hands being washed under a stream of fresh water from a pump, highlighting the importance of clean water access in rural communities.
Renewable Energy Solutions
Deploy solar-powered streetlights in rural and peri-urban areas to enhance safety and support local businesses.
Collaborate with energy providers to bring affordable solar home systems to underserved communities.
